Iran denies malfunction at nuclear power plant
Irans Foreign Ministry spokesman is denying reports that the countrys Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant has suffered a malfunction. Abbas Araghchi said at a news conference on Tuesday that no problem has been reported by responsible authorities.

 
Reformist candidate Aref quits presidential race
Mohammad Reza Aref has withdrawn his candidacy from Irans June 14 presidential election in order to give the reformist camp a better chance to win. The former vice president announced his decision to drop out of the election in a statement issued late on Monday, in which he said the decision was made after he received suggestions from former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, who advised to stand aside.

 
Irans former President Khatami declares support for candidate Rohani
Irans former President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami has announced his support for presidential candidate Hassan Rohani. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Khatami said that, due to the responsibility he feels toward the country and the fate of the Iranian nation, he would vote for Rohani in the June 14 presidential election.

 
Iran launches rearmed destroyer on Persian Gulf
Iran says it has launched a 50-year-old destroyer on the Persian Gulf after overhauling it and rearming with modern missiles. Since 1992, Iran has been pursuing a self-sufficiency military program, reportedly producing its own jet fighters, tanks, missiles and light submarines as well as torpedoes.

 
Iran details election process for Iranian nationals abroad
Irans Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi has presented the details of the forthcoming presidential election process for the Iranian nationals living in other countries.

During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Araqchi said Irans 11th presidential election will be held in 96 countries and in 128 Iranian mission headquarters.
