MNA � Iran and Iraq have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the number of weekly flights between the two countries.







The MoU was signed on Monday (Oct. 29) in Baghdad by Vice President for Aeronautical and International Affairs at�Civil Aviation Organization of Iran Morteza Dehghan and Civil Director General of Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority Ali Khalil Ibrahim.

As per the agreement, weekly flights from Iran to Iraq will rise from 90 to 120.

According to Secretary of Iran's Aviation Companies Association Maghsoud Asadi Samani, who was present at the meeting, Iran is seeking to gain the permission for unlimited number of flights to the neighboring country.

During the meeting, two documents were also signed between the two countries on cooperation in air traffic exchange, search and rescue operations.

The two sides discussed promotion of cooperation in the area of air transport and facilitating the launch of flights.

Regarding the debts of Iranian airlines to Najaf Airport, Asadi Samani noted that Civil Aviation Organization has held talks with the Central Bank of Iran to pay the dues in exchange for the revenues from power supply to the Arab country.
