IRNA - An associate member of the Academy of Sciences of Iran in an open letter to Pope Francis, urged him to direct US President Donald Trump as head of a major Christian nation.
Seyyed Mostafa Mohaqeqdamad, head of the Department of Islamic Studies at the Iranian Academy of Sciences, wrote in an open letter to Pope Francis on Saturday, As far as we are aware of the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Great Prophet of God, Christianity is mixed with the service of human beings. Therefore, it is expected that the Holy Father as the leader of the world's Christians will not be indifferent to the oppression of the head of a major Christian nation against Iranian nation.
On behalf of the nation, the Iranian government signed a contract with the then head of government of the United States. The agreement was approved by the people's representatives in Iranian parliament. According to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) verification, there has been no violation of the treaty by Iran in adherence to the treaty. Unfortunately, the current president of the United States has violated the treaty. The principle of devotion is the main promise that is respected and emphasized by all religions and wise men of the world. In addition to the violation of the treaty, he has adopted the severe decisions against Iran, which directly affect the nation and the people of Iran. The suffering that the people of Iran from the sanctions is obvious for every one and is not limited to food and medicine, and it's affecting the daily lives of the people. Mohaqeqdamad wrote.
He added, Which human conscience accepts and can tolerate children, the elderly, the poor, pregnant women, and many other weak disabled people who, in terms of humanitarian standards, should always be loved by other human beings, suffer from such inhuman decisions and maybe due to lose their lives due to shortage of enough equipment?
As a religious teacher who is proud to collaborate with Holy Father in various research, I call on to intervene in all possible ways and to provide the necessary guidance.
