IRNA - The fourth round of high-level political talks between Iran and the European Union was held in Brussels on Monday.
According to Iran's Media Diplomacy Center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a delegation from Iran's parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the director generals of various departments of the European Commission attended the talks.
Political deputy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Abbas Araqchi and Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid co-chaired the talks.
The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in agriculture, education and research, trade, energy and climate change, transportation, banking, refugees, narcotics, natural disasters, human rights and fighting terrorism.
While reviewing last year's performance in each of the aforementioned areas, the two sides agreed on how to advance future plans.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Iran nuclear deal in international and regional peace and security, Araghchi reiterated Iran's compliance with the deal and adherence to its commitments.
He also pointed to the need to accelerate effective, durable and mutual implementation of the commitments by other signatories to the deal following U.S. withdrawal from the agreement.
He noted any delay in meeting the commitments will pose a serious challenge to the important achievement and will make Iran to decide based on its own independence and interests.
