MNA Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said Fri. that strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is needed to secure mutual interests on both sides.
He made the remark in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani ahead of the 2nd Speakers' Conference currently underway in Tehran.
He maintained that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani have issued effective orders to further develop relations between the two sides.
For his part, Ali Larijani noted that it was the fourth time he was holding talks with the Russian State Duma speaker this year, saying the frequent meetings indicate the two countries resolve to bolster relations.
Larijani then referred to Astana peace talks as a successful model of cooperation between states to settle crises in the region, adding that the model could be applicable to other similar cases.
The parliament speaker further stressed that Iran is prepared to handle the impact of US sanctions by relying on domestic capacities.
