US sanctions not to affect Iran's economy: Envoy

IRNA - Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost says new US sanctions would have no impact on Iran's economy.

Talking to local media here, the ambassador said that despite sanctions Iran is pursuing the path of development and prosperity.

He said that the US has recently imposed new round of sanctions on Iran, however the people of Iran have learnt to live with sanctions.

The envoy noted new sanctions would have no major impact on Iran's economy. He added that Iran is a powerful Muslim country and the economists of the country have already prepared a strategy to counter the US sanctions.

Expressing his views, Ambassador Honardoost said that all Persian Gulf and Muslim countries have to unite to fight the challenges facing the Muslim world.

To a question, he said Iran and Pakistan enjoy strong brotherly ties and 'we want to further strengthen relations with Pakistan'.

Honardoost said that talks between Iran and Pakistan for the completion of the IP gas pipeline project are still continuing. He added that the project can help Pakistan to overcome its energy woes.

The envoy stated despite economic sanctions, many international companies are still doing business with Iran.
