IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale rattled Lavandevil, Astara, northwestern Iran, on Monday.
According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 13:33 hours local time (10:03 GMT) at the depth of 18 km underground.
No report has so far been released on the likely casualties or damage to property.
Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
