Press TV - Iran has lashed out at US President Donald Trump for his recent visit to Iraq, saying he ignored conventional diplomatic norms and disrespected Iraqs national sovereignty.
Despite countless interventions and thousands of billions of dollars the US has wasted on its illegitimate presence in the region and in particular in Iraq, Trump still has to visit a regional country in a total secret or sneaky way amid tightest security measures, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Friday.
The visit was strongly opposed by the Iraqi people and widely criticized by experts, Qassemi said.
The comments were made in reaction to Trumps unannounced visit to the al-Asad Air Base near Baghdad, which sparked a wave of condemnations from the Arab countrys political and military leaders, with some of them demanding the expulsion of the US forces.
