IRNA The Iranian Army is strongly protecting the eastern borders of the country, according to the commander of ground forces of the Army.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Thursday, Brigadier General Kiumars Heydari said that the forces of the Iranian Army have been deployed on the joint borders with Afghanistan.
He said that the deployment of forces is aimed to bolster security at these parts of the Iranian border.
Noting that all the Iranian borders enjoy full security, the commander said that there are no border threats facing the country.
Heydari also made it clear that the presence of Army forces along the eastern borders of the country does not mean that there are security threats at those borders.
The Iranian Army has been tasked with maintenance of security along the borders and therefore it has an active presence at the borders, he said.
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said earlier that the ground force of the Army has been tasked with guarding the joint border with Afghanistan.
He expressed concern about some insecurity in Afghanistan which he said could affect the joint borders with Iran and said that with the deployment of the ground force of the Army and the necessary planning, we hope we will have the safest borders at this part.
