Tasnim Irans highest-ranking military official praised the construction of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery -known as the worlds largest gas condensate refinery- as a symbol of the countrys self-reliance.
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri visited the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in the southern province of Hormozgan on Wednesday.
After being briefed on the process of production in the huge complex, the senior general said, The Persian Gulf Star Refinery is the symbol of self-confidence and capabilities of the Iranian youth.
He also said that the Khatam al-Anbia Construction Bases success to construct the refinery proves that Iranian experts can carry out big projects without reliance on foreign companies.
Developed by Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, a conglomerate affiliated with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Persian Gulf Star Refinerys first phase was launched in April 2017.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the second phase in June 2018.
Once all of its three phases come into operation, the refinerys daily production capacity will reach 36 million liters a day of Euro-5 gasoline as well as 14 million liters of light and heavy diesel, 3 million liters of jet fuel, more than 4 million liters of gas condensates, 130 tons of solid sulfur, and 425 tons of hydrogen.
The project is estimated to be completed at a cost of approximately $3.4 billion.
