IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated setting up of the Lebanese government in a meeting with Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri, describing it a major achievement.
Visiting Zarif also hoped that establishment of Lebanese government, which is based on public vote in recent parliamentary election, would play a crucial role in pushing the countrys affairs forward.
Zarif arrived in Beirut on an official two-day visit is the foreign minister visiting the country since the setting up of the Lebanese government.
Saad Al-Hariris administration was formed two weeks ago after nine months of consultations and waiting.
During the meeting, Zarif also reiterated Irans readiness for promoting ties with Lebanon in all fields.
Al-Hariri, for his part, stressed the need for enhancing ties between Tehran and Beirut.
Thus far, Zarif has had meetings with Lebanese president, parliament speaker and foreign minister and prime minister of the country.
He will attend celebrations at Iran Embassy in Beirut tonight in commemoration of the 40th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
