IRNA Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in his weekly press conference that banking relations need some international tools and norms to cooperate with other countries and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is one of these tools.
'The conventions being discussed in the Expediency Council, have some opponents and proponents,' said Bahram Qasemi, regarding Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif's attitude toward the FATF.
'Regarding the economic ties with other countries, we need to accept common frameworks; though we may have reservation about some issues, they can solve some of our problems,' said Qasemi.
The idea that adhering to such conventions can solve all the problems is not right because these problems are not the result of specific and single causes, he added.
He also said he believed that in the current situation joining the convention is better than not joining it.
