IRNA - Life went back to normal in the flood-effected regions of northern provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan, a senior local official said on Sunday.
Water is slowly receding in local rivers that were swollen with rainwater in recent days, Governer General of Mazandaran Ahmad Hosseinzadegan added in a crisis management meeting held in the region with the presence of First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri.
Jahangiri arrived in the flood affected regions on Saturady to personally monitor the process and pace of relief operaions and also help speed up removal of problems.
Condition in the flood-effected areas is normal, Mazandaran governer general noted.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Iranian Cabinet Mohsen Haji Mirzaei told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the government will hold its firest cabinet meeting in the new year (started March 21, 2019) on Wednsday.
Exlporing the existing avenues for assisting the flood affected regions will be the main topic of first cabinet meeting this year, official noted.
Golestan and Mazandaran provinces in the north of the country have been affected by heavy rains for the past few days. Flood forced people in many areas to flee and Aqqala and Gomishan cities in Golestan province were evacuated in order to prevent human losses.
