EU allocates initial amount of aids to Iran flood-hit
IRNA - The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management announced that the EU allocated initial amount of 1.2m aids to Iranian flood-stricken people.

Following the severe floods in #Iran we are allocating an initial amount of 1.2 million in emergency support to assist the most vulnerable communities, Christos Stylianides wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.

He added we stand in full #solidarity with the Iranian people at this difficult time'.

Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over the past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and 478 others were injured and a large number were displaced across Iran.

The disaster coincided with the high season of Iranians' trips as they were spending the national two-week holidays of Nowruz.

Meanwhile, Switzerland Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it will send two water purifiers with capacity of purifying water for 5,000 people to Iranian flood-stricken people.

Swiss Foreign Ministry office for development and cooperation said that the water purifiers weighing one ton will arrive in Iran on Saturday night and will be delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
