Iran's print industry floundering amid soaring prices

Financial Tribune - There seems to be no end in sight to the huge and sudden rise in paper prices, as well as many other goods for that matter.

Publishers have seen an astonishing 340% increase in the price of coated paper used in printing and packaging industry last year. Last week and in a matter of 24 hours, paper prices jumped 22%.

Lets take the example of a ream (500 sheet or 70 grams) of Indonesian 100.70 print paper: It cost 1.08 million rials ($7.42) in the month ending March 20, 2018, about 1.21 million rials ($8.31) in the month to April 20, 2018, 3.06 million rials ($21.1) in the month leading to Jan. 20, 2019, and 4.5 million rials ($31.1) in the month to April 20, 2019.
