IRNA - Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) elected Iran as the vice chair of its executive council.
Upon its nomination by the Asian countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran was successfully elected as the vice chair of the Executive Council of the OPCW, despite objection by the US, Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in The Hague, The Netherlands said in a statement released on Saturday.
OPCW member states elected Iran's Ambassador to Netherlands Alireza Kazemi Abadi as the vice chair of the executive council of the international body.
