JCPOA parties to help Iran export enriched uranium, heavy water: Russia

Tasnim Russias Foreign Ministry said the 2015 Iran nuclear deals parties are figuring out how to enable Tehran to continue exporting enriched uranium and heavy water in defiance of the US sanctions.

"In the context of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the JCPOAs nuclear aspects, experts from the member nations have been tasked to elaborate practical measures to make it possible for Iran to export low enriched uranium and heavy water in bypassing the US sanctions," the Russia Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It also noted that the remaining parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany- have stressed the need to support Iran's nuclear activities as part of the JCPOA commitments, particularly in the areas concerning the production and export of Iran's low enriched uranium and heavy water, Press TV reported.

The statement came after negotiators from Iran and the Group 4+1 (Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) convened in Vienna on Friday to discuss the ways to save the JCPOA.

On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA, a 159-page nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) came into force in January 2016.

Following the US withdrawal, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord.

However, the EUs failure to ensure Irans economic interests forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments under JCPOA on May 8, 2019.

Iran has also set a 60-day deadline for the remaining JCPOA parties to fulfill their undertakings.
