Tasnim A delegation of Iranian lawmakers is in Russia to take part in the second edition of an international forum on Development of Parliamentarism.
The high-ranking parliamentary delegation, consisting of members of the Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission as well as Iran-Russia parliamentary friendship group and led by vice speaker of the Parliament Massoud Pezeshkian, has travelled to Moscow at the invitation of Chairman of Russias State Duma Viacheslav Volodin.
In addition to participation in the 2nd International Forum on Development of Parliamentarism, the Iranian lawmakers are going to hold meetings with the foreign guests at the conference and also with Russias senior parliamentary and state officials to weigh plans for the expansion of Tehran-Moscow ties.
The forum will be held from July 1 to 3 in Moscow.
Volodin has announced that Russia is expecting around 800 foreign representatives from 131 countries. According to the chairman of Duma, 85 countries would be represented at the level of official parliamentary delegations, including 37 African teams.
More than 500 international participants, parliamentarians and experts from 96 countries attended the 2018 edition of the forum.
At the final declaration of last years conference, the participants highlighted the importance of inclusive and equitable cooperation among the nations and their alliances to ensure international and regional security and stability, to establish a safe and open global information space, and to strengthen collective efforts in countering terrorism and other common threats.
