Iran’s President extends condolences over Tunisian counterpart’s death

Tasnim – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his condolences to Tunisia over the death of the country’s President Beji Caid Essebs.


In a Friday letter to Tunisia’s parliament speaker Mohamed al-Nasser who has been sworn in as the interim president, Rouhani said he was saddened by the death of the North African country’s president.

Offering condolences to the Republic of Tunisia’s government and nation, the Iranian president wished glory for the African nation.

Known as one of the world’s oldest leaders, Essebsi died at the age of 92 at the Tunis military hospital on Thursday morning.

Tunisia’s first democratically elected leader was hospitalized with a severe illness in late June, but returned to intensive care on Thursday.
