Press TV - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi has expressed condolences over the demise of nearly a dozen people, including children, in a fire incident in the country's western Kordestan Province.
The incident took place on Thursday night when a liquid gas cylinder exploded at a wedding hall in the western city of Saqqez and claimed the lives of 11 people there, among them five children.
Some 50 others also sustained injuries in the deadly incident, with three of them being in a critical condition.
Mousavi voiced his sympathy in a tweet in Kurdish on Friday. Our hearts goout to the grieved fathers, mothers, children and spouses who lost their loved ones in the tragic fire incident in Saqqez. We extend our condolences to the grieving families as well as the honorable people of Saqqez and Kordestan, and wish swift healing for the injured.
Koredstan's Governorate General Office announced a day of national mourning in the western province following the deadly incident.
