FNA - Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Stefan Scholz said on Wednesday that his country is a firm supporter of the nuclear deal of 2015, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), adding that Vienna believes Tehrans interests stipulated in the deal must be met.
Regarding the JCPOA signed by Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in 2015, Scholz said that Vienna is working hard to save the deal and that Iran should enjoy the economic interest of the deal as well.
Scholz made the remarks during his visit to Sanandaj, the provincial capital city of Irans Western province of Kordestan, where he held a meeting with the mayor of the city.
Scholz said that Austrian companies are unhappy that diplomacy and politics have not been able to pave the way for cooperation.
He added that his country is currently working with Iran carrying out projects in nine different fields, noting that that the goal of his visits is to get familiarized with the province and identify grounds for cooperation.
The envoy said that because there are not enough safe channels for financial transactions, the two countries intend to focus on training and strengthening capacities.
Scholz added that Kordestan Province and Austria are topologically very similar, and that the two areas are superpowers in terms of endemic music.
Last Tuesday, in a meeting with Scholz in Karaj, Head of Alborz Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Rahim Banamolaei described Austria as an appropriate bridge playing an essential role in bolstering Iran's trade relations across Europe.
Banamolaei said Austrian activists have welcomed the joint investment to produce halal food and exports of such products under national and international brands.
Last month, Austrian Commercial Attach to Iran Christoph Grabmeier underlined that the re-imposition of sanctions against Tehran by Washington is of no legal value, and the European states should remain committed to the JCPOA.
He pointed to the status quo of Austria-Iran economic relations, and said, In order to improve Iran-Austria economic interactions, both sides should find the problems.
In relevant remarks in July, Scholz had underlined the necessity for protecting the nuclear deal, saying that Tehran should be able to benefit from its economic advantages.
"Iran enjoys this legal right to use the economic benefits of the nuclear deal and there is no doubt about this fact," Scholz told FNA in the Northern city of Semnan.
He stressed his efforts to pave the ground for the Iranian and Austrian companies' cooperation through his visits to different provinces of Iran.
"We hope that friendship between the two countries' people will deepen and lead to the development of relations," Scholz said.
