In a post on his Twitter account, Mohammad Farazmand said he has held a meeting with Turkeys Deputy Minister of Customs and Trade Riza Tuna Turagay to weigh plans for the continuation of trade exchanges between the two neighbors in compliance with the health protocols following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
At present, the transit trucks of the two countries (Iran and Turkey) are passing through third destinations, the envoy added.
On Sunday, Turkey's Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan had a telephone conversation with Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi to make assurances that the Iranian trucks would have no problem in crossing the countrys borders.
She noted that Iranian trucks could cross Turkeys common borders with Bulgaria, Georgia and Greece.
The Iranian Health Ministry said on Monday that since the outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country, 2,394 patients have completely recovered from the infectious disease.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased by 595, reaching 7,161.
Authorities say the death toll from the new coronavirus epidemic in Iran has risen to 237.
