Diplomats discuss boosting Iran-Oman ties

Tasnim Irans ambassador to Oman and the sultanates foreign minister held a meeting to weigh plans for the expansion of the relations between Tehran and Muscat.

In the meeting in Muscat, Iranian envoy Mohammad Reza Noori Shahroodi and the Sultanate of Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah discussed the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

According to the Iranian Embassy in Oman, the two diplomats weighed plans to promote the bilateral relations and facilitate maritime transportation between the two neighbors.

They also talked about the challenges posed by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as well as the status of the Iranian nationals residing in Oman.

In a telephone conversation with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in April, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the need for collective action by all countries in the fight against COVID-19.

The president also voiced Irans readiness to provide the friendly and neighboring state, Oman, with the experiences and achievements in the battle with COVID-19 and to offer whatever assistance necessary.
