Iran hopes for closer trade ties with Georgia

Tasnim In a congratulatory message to Georgia on its national day, Irans First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri hoped for the development of economic and trade ties between Tehran and Tbilisi.

In his Tuesday message to Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, Jahangiri congratulated the South Caucasus country on its national day.

He also highlighted the political will of the two countries senior officials for the enhancement of the ties and the history of mutual cooperation between the two neighbors, expressing hope that employment of the available potentials would result in the enhancement of relations in various fields, particularly the economic and trade ties.

Iran and Georgia have close political and economic ties and there are hundreds of companies registered by Iranians in Georgia.

Georgia Independence Day commemorates the 26 May 1918 adoption of the Act of Independence, which established the Democratic Republic of Georgia in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917. It is the national day of Georgia.
