Asghar Farhadi casts 2 Iranian leads for “Hero”

ISNA - Amir Jadidi and Mohsen Tanabandeh are two male actors joining “Hero”, the new film by Iranian two- time Oscar winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.

The Farsi-language project has officially entered pre-production stage and is due to shoot in Shiraz, Iran, this summer, Amir Jadidi and Mohsen Tanabadenh are the only professional actors picked for this project who never collaborated with Farhadi before.

Plot details of “Hero” are being kept under wraps, but the film marks a return to Iran and his native language for Farhadi after Cannes opener “Everybody Knows” starring Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

Producers are Farhadi and regular collaborator Alexandre Mallet-Guy of Memento Films Production, which has made Farhadi’s last three films. Memento Films Distribution will release the film in France.

Farhadi has received two Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film for his films “A Separation” (2012) and “The Salesman” (2016), making him one of the few directors worldwide who have won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film twice.
