Spokesman urges Romania to brief Iran on death probe of fugitive judge

Tasnim Irans Foreign Ministry spokesman urged immediate action from Romanian authorities to clarify the cause of death of a fugitive Iranian former judge in Bucharest.

There are some ambiguities around the death of the ex-judge, and the Romanian government has so far failed to inform us about the investigation process despite our several requests, Seyed Abbas Mousavi said on Monday.

The Romanian government needs to officially notify the Islamic Republic of any incident that has happened, he said.

Given the sensitivity and complexity of the case, we urge the Romanian government to keep us informed.

According to the information Iran has received from Interpol in Bucharest, Gholamreza Mansouri jumped from high to his death at a hotel. Romanias police also said Mansouri had fallen to his death in what preliminary investigation indicated was a suicide.

Circumstances around his death are not yet known, but preliminary reports indicated that Mansouri apparently fell out of a window in the Duke Hotel at 2:30 p.m. last week.
