Turkish flights to Tehran resume

September 26, The Iran Project - Turkish Airlines (THY) has restarted its flights to Tehran from Friday (Sep. 25) after six months that suspended its international flights due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Turkish Airlines which had suspended its flights to Tehran for six months due to the coronavirus pandemic is scheduled to resume flights on the Istanbul-Tehran route and vice versa, Vice President of Operations of Imam Khomeini Airport Town Company Alireza Majzoubi announced on Friday.

Earlier, THY had said in a statement that they have arranged the schedule as a result of meticulous work with national and international health authorities.

Privately-run Iranian airlines, Mahan Air, resumed flights to the neighboring country of Turkey on Monday (September 22).

According to official figures, COVID- 19 has taken a huge toll on Irans civil aviation sector with reports showing that airlines lost hundreds of millions of dollars because of flight cancellations.
