Indian Ambassador to Iran D. P. Srivastava says New Delhi is determined to continue cooperation with the Islamic Republic despite the illegal US-engineered sanctions against the country.
The Indian envoy noted on Wednesday that Iran purchased USD 4.3 billion worth of goods from India last year using rupee for payment, stressing that India will continue to cooperate with Iran despite the US-led sanctions.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's Deputy Minister of Labor, Cooperative, and Social Welfare for International Affairs Mohammad-Taqi Hosseini in Tehran.

The meeting, which was held on the request of the Indian ambassador, focused on exploring ways of bolstering Tehran-New Delhi relations.

Hosseini, for his part, described the meeting as positive, stressing the need for the continuation of bilateral negotiations between the two countries.
�The Indian side should pay more attention to price of export commodities and their quality, and try to dispel the Iranian sides' concerns,� the Iranian official stated.
The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and European Union using the claim as an excuse to impose illegal sanctions against Tehran.

Iran has categorically rejected the allegation, stressing that as a committed member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
