President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that all officials are ready to vaccinate as pioneers to build public trust in vaccination.

"People should be assured that if a vaccine is imported to the country, all officials trust it," President Rouhani said at a ceremony held this morning in Tehran to begin vaccination against COVID-19 with a Russian-developed vaccine Sputnik V.

Son of Minister of Health and Medical Education was the first Iranian to receive the vaccine.

Iran took delivery of the first batch of Russian COVID-19 vaccine "Sputnik V"on February 4.

The president expressed happiness that the vaccination started during Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn).

About the son of the Health Minister who was the first received the vaccine, the president said it carries a message that when an official's dear son takes vaccine, it is safe.

Further, the president appreciated all doctors, nurses and medical personnel for their efforts during fight against the pandemic since its outbreak over a year ago.

Since its outbreak worldwide in December, 2019, the coronavirus pandemic has killed over 2,330,000.

The pandemic caused over58,000 deaths in Iran.

At the ceremony which was simultaneously held in 635 hospitals across the country, the president expressed happiness that the vaccination started during Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn).

February 1, 1979, which fell on January 31 this year, was the first day of Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn). The ten days are annually celebrated across the country to mark the return of the late Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran from exile.
