Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh strongly condemned Sunday�s attacks on Afghanistan�s Panjshir Valley, voiced concern about foreign interference in Afghanistan, and abhorred the martyrdom of Afghan leaders in the fighting.


Asked about the reports of Taliban�s conquest of Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan, Khatibzadeh said at a press conference on Monday that the news of military clashes in Panjshir are �extremely worrying�.

He also condemned�yesterday�s attacks on Panjshir in the strongest terms and expressed regret at the martyrdom of Afghan leaders.

Condemning foreign interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, the Iranian spokesman added, �Everybody should know that the history of Afghanistan has proved that foreign meddling will result in nothing but failure.�

Khatibzadeh also urged that the conflict in Panjshir should be settled politically and through negotiations. �Nobody should allow this path to end with fratricide.�

The Iranian diplomat�called on the Taliban to honor their commitments.
