Irans Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that the United States was responsible for a significant part of instability and insecurity in Afghanistan.
Speaking in theministerial meeting on the Humanitarian Situation in Afghanistan chaired by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Monday, Amirabdollahian highlighted the new situation in Afghanistan after the US withdrawal, leading to the Taliban taking over the country.
He said that everyone shared the belief that a significant part of instability and insecurity in Afghanistan and the current chaos were caused by the US policies, which was accompanied by trial and error and mistakes.
The Iranian top diplomat urged that the message of the meeting to Afghanistan should be in two levels: political and humanitarian, adding that in the political level it should be that a stable, secure, advanced Afghanistan was only possible under an inclusive national government; andin the humanitarian level, itshould be that the international community would immediately send humanitarian aid to the country, given the fact that children and women in Afghanistan have faced a catastrophic condition in the past and today.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has kept its borders with Afghanistan open to let humanitarian aids keep flowing and local and border markets remain active to prevent a new wave of refugees, the foreign minister said.
He also noted that Iran was ready to facilitate the flow of international humanitarian aid from different countriesinto Afghanistan.
Amirabdollahian criticized the international community, saying that the world has not fulfilled its commitments regarding the displaced people in Afghanistan.
Iran seeks a policy in Afghanistan that includes formation of an inclusive government as well as a country without terrorism and narcotics and a situation that Afghan people could decide on their own fate, he said wrapping up his speech in the meeting.
