Domestically-manufactured air defense systems of Joshan and Khatam were successfully test-fired during major airpower drill in Iran, an Iranian commander said on Wednesday.
Brigadier General Qader Rahimzadeh, the commander of the countrys Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, said that in the following phase of the maneuvers named Modafean Aseman Velayat 1400 (Guardians of Velayat Sky 1400), the Joshan and Khatam air defense systems succeeded in smashing low-altitude targets, which weretrying to infiltrate the specified region of the maneuvers.
Saying that the Joshan and Khatam air defense systems have been test-fired for the first time in the drill, the commander noted that the missile system Joshan is an upgraded version of Khordad-15 using passive radar. The identified targets weresmashed by an integrated air defense network.
Rahimzadeh went on to say that destroying targets in low altitude is one of the tests carried out in this phase of the maneuvers with the help of tactical missile systems based on all-round defense in electronic battlefield.
