Iranian president visits Iraq

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Iraq to discuss issues of mutual interests, Fars news agency reported on July 18.
Earlier, Ahmadinejad postponed his visit to Baghdad due to President Jalal Talabani's bad physical condition for long time.

During the visit, Ahmadinejad will meet with high-ranking Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, Vice President Khodair al-Khozaei and other high-profile officials during his two-day visit to Iraq.

The two sides will discuss ways for the further expansion of mutual cooperation in various fields.

Iran and Iraq were involved in a war which broke out in September 1980 and lasted for eight years. On July 20 is 26 anniversary of adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 598 that stops war between Iran and Iraq.
