The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has welcomed the United States' declaration of support for the peace process in Yemen, saying it is good that the US envoy talks about peace in Yemen.






It is a process that the Islamic Republic of Iran has emphasized from the outset of the war in Yemen in March 2015 and has made effort to end it, Nasser Kanaani wrote in a Farsi post on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

The comments came after US special envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking called on Iran to support efforts to reach peace in Yemen.

"We also would like to see the Iranians show support for the political process that we hope is coming," �the AFP news agency�quoted Lenderking as saying.

That comes as the Islamic Republic of Iran has supported efforts aimed at reaching a lasting truce in Yemen since the very beginning of the aggression of certain Arab states against the country in 2015.
