Iran calls on European countries to stop sheltering terrorist groups
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stressed the need for efforts to promote cooperation between the Islamic Republic and Belgium including fighting terrorist groups.

Raeisi made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on Thursday evening.

During the phone call, the two sides discussed the latest state of judicial interactions and cooperation between Tehran and Brussels, and ways to expedite implementation of bilateral agreements.

The Iranian president pointed to the 130-year-old historical relations between the two countries, and underlined the need for enhancement of mutual cooperation in various fields of science and technology, industry and agriculture.

Raeisi also called upon European governments to stop supporting and sheltering terrorist and separatist groups in their respective countries.

For his part, De Croo expressed his satisfaction with the agreements reached between the two states, and emphasized on the development of mutual ties in different spheres.

On Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib in a telephone conversation hoped for the expansion of relations between the two countries.

The two senior diplomats discussed issues of mutual interest in the phone call.

They also expressed optimism that the bilateral ties between Tehran and Brussels would develop in light of joint efforts and cooperation.

Amir-Abdollahian and Lahbib also discussed the latest state of consular cooperation between Iran and Belgium.

Talks with Qatari emir

President Raeisi held a separate phone conversation with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani about the recent crimes committed by Israeli troops in al-Aqsa Mosque against fasting Palestinian worshipers, IRNA reported.

The Iranian president emphasized the need for unity and coordination of Islamic countries to prevent the Israeli regime and support the oppressed Palestinian people, it said.
