On Wednesday, British Ambassador to Tehran Simon Shercliff was summoned to Iran's foreign ministry for posting interventionist content on a social media page on Iranian National Reporter Day.
The director of the West Europe Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry voices Irans strong protest to the ambassadors stances which he said run contrary to diplomatic conventions, customs, and regulations.
He noted that unwise, irresponsible, undiplomatic content is regarded as a clear example of interference in internal affairs and is unacceptable.
Touching upon some destructive measures by certain London-based media against the Islamic Republic of Iran under the pretext of freedom of expression, the Iranian foreign ministry official said that with its indefensible record in dealing with the Iranian nation, the UK government is not in a position to comment about the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This is the Islamic Republic of Iran and we will not allow the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran to be neglected with arbitrary actions," he concluded.
For his part, the British ambassador reiterated his governments determination to preserve respectful relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In 2022, The Iranian foreign ministry had summoned Simon Shercliff over the meddlesome remarks by the British authorities about Irans internal affairs.
