At least 1 killed, 8 injured in terrorist attack on Shah Cheragh in Iran
The Iran Project - At least one person has been killed and eight others have been injured in an attack on the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, according to top government officials in Fars province on Sunday afternoon.

An armed terrorist tried to enter the shrine of Hazrat Shah Cheragh through the door of Bab al-Mahdi, but the security forces encountered him at the holy mosque.

The preliminary reports suggest that one custodian was martyred in the attack by the terrorists.

Meanwhile, contradictory reports also said that there were two terrorists involved one of whom was killed at the scene of the crime and the other was still at large.

Eyewitnesses also posted videos of themselves online saying that they had heard gunfire followed by ambulance sirens who had gone to the mosque.

The provincial governor of Fars Province Mohammad Hadi Imaniyeh told national TV that tone person was martyred and weight others were wounded including two custodians, three of them in critical condition.

The governor then noted that the attack occurred at almost 7 PM, quoting an IRGC commander in the Fars Province as telling him that there was only a terrorist and he had been arrested inside the mosque by the security forces.

Last month, Daesh had warned in Al-Azaim magazine - affiliated with Daesh - that it would take revenge in response to the execution of the perpetrators of last year's terrorist attack on Shah Cheragh.
