The Iran Project - At the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 54 historical Iranian caravanserais have been added to the list of world heritage sites.
These caravanserais, located in 24 provinces across Iran, were carefully examined and selected among hundreds by the committee.
They are considered to be influential examples of the caravanserais of Iran, showcasing architectural styles, adaptation to climatic conditions, and construction materials over many centuries.
The committee also reviewed and included the Dizmar Protected Area and the mountainous Hyrcanian forests in northwestern Iran on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Additionally, Iran has proposed the cultural landscape of Masuleh to be registered, which will be reviewed on Tuesday.
