Iran dismisses explosion claims in Khorramabad, reports M2.5 quake

The Iran Project - The Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran has refuted claims that an explosion occurred in Khorramabad, Iran, saying that the tremor felt by residents was actually a 2.5 magnitude earthquake.

Iraj Rouhi, the seismic database manager, clarified that the earthquake occurred at a latitude of 33.462, a longitude of 48.506, and a shallow depth of eight kilometers.

He explained that while small earthquakes are typically not felt, they can be noticeable when they occur at a shallow depth.

Speculation about the cause of the tremor arose after a loud noise was reported in some areas of Khorramabad on Monday night.

Hostile media outlets, such as the Times of Israel and Iran International, suggested that it could have been an operation by Israel's Mossad spy agency, but these claims were based on unreliable sources.
