: The head of the Iran Trade Development Organization says the country is set to import 40,000 cars by the end of the Iranian calendar year March 20 of 2024.

Iran to import 40,000 cars by end of March 2024
Speaking to reporters, Zeighami reiterated that if the required currency is allocated, at least 40 thousand more cars can be imported by the end of the Iranian calendar year, March 20 of 2024.
Stressing that there is no currency problem for importing cars, he said that 110 million dollars were allocated in the last two weeks.
He went on to add that car imports will definitely continue this year and next year.
We are planning to import cars for sure this year. For the next year, it is also foreseen in the budget and will be done without interruption, the official underlined.
Answering a question on whether we have a currency problem for importing cars, he said, “We do not have a currency problem in the general sense for importing cars.”
We hold regular meetings with the central bank to speed up the procedure of allocating currency for car imports; Last week, 110 million dollars were allocated to companies to import cars, he said.
The head of the Trade Development Organization concluded,W”e have a golden opportunity to import cars in the coming months so that we can import a significant amount of cars by allocating the appropriate currency.”
