The Iran Project : The former Secretary of the Automobile Importers Association says students living abroad are facing hard conditions to import an automobile, describing its requirements as impractical.
According to The Iran Project, Mehdi Dadfar made the comments in an interview with Eghtesad Online on Monday.
He elaborated on the conditions for importing zero-kilometer cars by the overseas students, adding that “If a person wants to import a 0km car, he/she must have a commercial card and purchase after-sales services from those who have a license from the ministry of industry.”
Some users in cyberspace have claimed that Iranian students living abroad could import cars, while in this situation and according to experts, it is practically impossible.
It is unlikely that such a thing would happen, the former official underlined.
In previous years, students could import the car they used in the same country, if it is the car that someone has been using, then this is wrong because importing used cars into the country is prohibited, he stated.
If they have imported a 0km car, they must have a commercial card and have purchased after-sales services from those who have a license from the industry ministry, he reiterated.
In addition, this person must get permission to register an order and be in the queue for currency allocation. They take currency from the central bank and transfer it to a foreign bank, buy a car bring it into the country, and finally go through the customs formalities, he added.
It is not possible at all to import a car with this process, allegations about importing cars in this way are not true, he concluded.
