Iran builds nanocomposite covers to prevent industries corrosion

TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian researcher has built new nanocomposite covers resistant against steel corrosion, a common problem in many industries.
Hossein Mirhosseini, the lead author of the project said the invention seeks ending corrosion-related problems in industries and steel equipment.

"The problem of corrosion in grout transfer equipment and other transfer pipes in mines as well as oil and gas facilities inflicts expenses for repairing or changing pipes and other equipment," he told ISNA.

He further highlighted the tremendous loss made by corrosion problems in different industries, and said, "Nanocomposite cover creates high degree of hardness. When put on the steel surface, it makes the surface resistant against corrosion and increases the lifespan of the tools and devices which are prone to rubbing corrosion."

Mirhosseini also noted the polymeric nanocomposite covers are laid put on oil and petrochemistry pipelines and nanoceramics used inside steel pipes for grout transfer equipment.

The project is the first one in the country which will be mass produced after the research phase is accomplished.
