The Iran Project : The deputy of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has declared that 53,000 people in the country are currently using digital checks.
According to The Iran Project, Mehran Mohramian made the declaration on Tuesday in an interview with ISNA.
11 banks have implemented using digital checks and four other banks have successfully completed their tests and will execute it these days, he stated.
The digital check product in banks is gradually being finalized and used by customers, and the number of customers who use this product is increasing day by day, the deputy noted.
Banks are also gradually improving their processes and systems so that people can use this product more easily, which can really upgrade the check services to another level and especially to cover the issue of check cashing in non-physical format, he added.
Currently, 53,000 people in the country use digital checks, and these 53,000 people issued 184,000 digital checks, he stressed.
Of course, the check sheet here is virtual and in reality, there is no check sheet anymore, he added.
159,000 of these checks were cashed in the banking network and 334 were bounced, he asserted.
