World reacts to Russia terror attack

The Iran Project : Reactions and condemnations have been pouring in following a terrorist attack in Russia where dozens of people were killed after gunmen began firing at people at the Crocus City Hall near the capital Moscow.

According to The Iran Project,UN Chief António Guterres condemned in the strongest possible terms the Friday deadly terrorist attack.

“The Secretary-General conveys his deep condolences to the bereaved families and the people and the Government of the Russian Federation,” said his Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq. “He wishes those injured a speedy recovery”, according to a UN press release.

The Security Council also condemned “the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack” in a press statement released on Friday evening.

“The Council members reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security and underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice”, said the statement.

The European Union said it had been “shocked and appalled” by the Moscow attack.

"The EU condemns any attacks against civilians. Our thoughts are with all those Russian citizens affected”, said an EU spokesman.
In China, President Xi Jinping extended condolences to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Chinese Xinhua news agency said.

Xi said in a message that “China opposes all forms of terrorism and firmly supports the Russian government's efforts to maintain national security and stability.”

Presidents of several more countries, including Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia and Kazakhstan sent similar messages, condemning the attack and expressing their condolences.
The Foreign Ministry in Syria condemned in the strongest terms the “cowardly terrorist attack”, according to a statement released by the country’s SANA news agency.

“Syria stresses the need for intensifying the world efforts to face those massacres and bring their perpetrators to justice, and affirms its support for the Russian people and leadership to confront the plague of terrorism,” the statement said.

Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Cyprus, Qatar, Japan, India, and France extended their condemnations and condolences as well.

In the US, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressed condolences to victims of the “terrible shooting attack”.

The Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, strongly denounced the attack, offering its sincere condolences to the leadership and people of Russia as well as the families of the victims of “the criminal attack”. Hamas wished a speedy recovery for the injured people and announced its full solidarity with the Russian nation.
