Cuba VP to attend Iran president-elect’s swearing-in ceremony

Cuba’s Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz is to attend the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of Hassan Rohani as Iran’s new president.
Cabrisas would be traveling to Tehran at the head of an official, the Mehr news agency reported on Tuesday.

Rohani emerged victorious in Iran's June 14 presidential election, winning 50.7 percent of a total of over 36 million ballots counted.

His swearing-in will be held on August 4, one day after endorsement by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Yasrebi said on Sunday that the participation of officials from as many as 40 countries was anticipated in Rohani’s inauguration.

According to Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi, leaders and officials from across the world, except for the United States and Israel, have been invited to the event.
