Iran, North Korea discuss parliamentary ties
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and North Korean officials in a meeting in Pyongyang explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties, specially in parliamentary fields.


During the meeting in the North Korean capital, a team of visiting Iranian lawmakers and their North Korean counterparts underlined the need for the further expansion of parliamentary relations between the two countries.

We explored avenues for the expansion of bilateral ties, specially in parliamentary fields, during the meeting and also invited the officials and the (members of) North Korea-Iran Friendship Group to visit Iran , member of the Iranian Parliaments Economic commission Mahnaz Bahmani said on Saturday.

Last year, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) Presidium Kim Yong Nam voiced Tehran's preparedness to increase mutual cooperation with Pyongyang in different fields.

During the meeting held in Tehran, the two officials explored avenues for the further expansion of trade ties between Iran and North Korea, and underlined the two parliaments role in facilitating friendly ties between the two sides.

Larijani said Iran is fully prepared to improve cooperation with North Korea in different fields including industry, trade, technology, investment in infrastructures, mine extraction, and exports of agricultural equipments, and added that Irans private sector enjoys proper a capability to export technical and engineering services to the East Asian state.

Yong Nam, too, said that his country supports Iranian private sectors presence in different economic and industrial fields in North Korea.

He also said the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK) supports Irans right to access peaceful nuclear technology.
