The Iran Project : A new warship joined the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy’s fleet in southern Iran on Thursday.
IRGC Navy Receives New Warship
According to The Iran Project, The homegrown warship has been named after Rais Ali Delvari, a national hero who organized popular resistance against the British forces after the invasion of Iran in 1915.
The new military vessel joined the IRGC’s naval fleet in a ceremony in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas, attended by IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami.
In remarks at the event, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said the warship can carry three missile-launching vessels and a helicopter on board and could be furnished with missiles with a range of 750 kilometers.
The Rais Ali Delvari warship is currently armed with missiles with a range of 300 km developed by the Iranian Defense Ministry, he added, noting that the warship can cruise at a speed of 32 knots.
Equipped with a fire control system, the warship can sail for 5,000 kilometers, the commander said.
The IRGC Navy also unveiled a number of speed boats armed with missile launchers.
The speed boats, sailing with the breakneck velocity of 110 knots (203 km/h), can fire anti-destroyer cruise missiles.
