The Iran Project : The Public Prosecutor of Sistan and Baluchestan says that police have confiscated a large cache of light and semi-heavy weapons in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The cops seize around 400 firearms in southeastern Iran.
According to The Iran Project, Mehdi Shamsabadi said on Monday that the operation, led by the Intelligence Directorate of Sistan and Baluchestan, resulted in the seizure of approximately 400 firearms, including Colts, Kalashnikovs, and M4s, along with a substantial amount of ammunition.
He said that the weapons were linked to international arms smuggling networks and local groups involved in destabilizing the region.
Shamsabadi said that the weapons were smuggled into Iran concealed within fuel gallons, using unauthorized and illicit methods.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Iranian authorities to combat arms trafficking and maintain security in the volatile southeastern region.
