TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker cautioned against the negative consequences of any foreign military intervention in Syria, reiterating that the US is trying to repeat the Iraq scenario in Syria.
The Americans are trying to exercise the same scenario in Syria that they implemented 10 years ago in Iraq, where they could not find even one kilogram of chemicals, member of the parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Hassan Asafari said.
He said the chemical weapons accusations leveled against the Syrian government are not worth and only meant to provide an excuse for a military intervention in the Muslim country.
The prominent legislator stressed that since the Syrian army has gained remarkable victories over the armed rebels and pushed them out of the Muslim countrys strategic cities, including Damascus and Homs, and also due to the fact that the West, specially the US, could not achieve its goals in Syria, they are trying to launch a military strike against the Syrian government and nation by involving the NATO.
The US invaded Iraq in 2003 on the lame excuse that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had stockpiled Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in the Arab country, but they found nothing there.
Use of chemical agents in a Damascus and a Homs countryside this week has caused international fury over the crimes which claimed hundreds of lives in the crisis-hit country.
Following the chemical attack on Damascus, rebels accused the government to be using such weapons of mass destruction, while a UN investigation team was present in the capital to start a probe into the use of chemical weapons. The UN delegation arrived in Syria earlier this week at the invitation of the Damascus government.
Following the rebels' accusations, the central command of the Syrian Army on Wednesday strongly rejected the allegations that the army has used chemical weapons in Damascus countryside as "completely baseless" and "untrue", stressing that the report is part of the dirty media warfare on Syria.
The Army statement said that the allegations of terrorist gangs and certain media that the army has used chemical weapons constitute a desperate attempt to cover up the defeats they are suffering on the ground, and these allegations reflect their hysteria, disorder and breakdown.
Later, a phone call between a militant affiliated to the so-called 'Shuhada al-Bayada Battalion' in Homs and his boss called Adulbasit from Saudi Arabia uncovered that antigovernment fighters used the chemical weapons in Deir Ballba in Homs countryside.
During a phone call broadcast on the Syrian TV Channel, the militant said that his group which comprises 200 terrorists escaped from al-Bayadah to al-Daar al-Kabera through a tunnel, adding that they needed to buy weapons to attack the City of Homs, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
During the phone conversation, the Saudi financier who was in Cairo admitted to extend support for the rebels in Daraa and Damascus Countryside, and asked the militant about details on his group and the way they intend to receive the money, in response, the militant said that one of the achievements of his "Battalion" was the successful use of chemical weapons in Deir Ballba.
In the same context, another phone call revealed that two rebel groups had tried to get two cylinders of Sarin Gas from Barzeh neighborhood in Damascus to be used in Homs.
