Iran has condemned the latest wave of bombings in Iraq, saying the deadly terrorist attacks are aimed at creating a rift in the Muslim country.
On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Araqchi described the violence as a crime against humanity which is aimed at creating divisions among Iraqi people and undermining the countrys national interests.
Araqchi offered condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks, urging the Iraqi nation to maintain national solidarity.
At least 80 people were killed and more than 200 others injured in apparently coordinated bomb explosions on Wednesday.
Baghdad bore the brunt of the violence with over a dozen bombings ripping through the capital's Shia neighborhoods during morning rush hour.
According to the United Nations, a total of 1,057 Iraqis, including 928 civilians, were killed and another 2,326 were wounded in terrorist attacks throughout the country in July -- the deadliest month in Iraq since 2008.
Iraqs Interior Ministry has said that militants have launched an open war in Iraq with the aim of pushing the Middle Eastern country into chaos.
